This policy covers Contour, the portfolio tracker for iPhone. Your portfolio is yours. There's no account and no sign-in, and we don't track you. Here is everything that leaves your iPhone, and why.
Your portfolio stays on your iPhone
Your portfolios, accounts, trades, watchlist and settings are stored on your device. We do not maintain a hosted portfolio account. Device backups you enable may include this data. Deleting the app can remove its local data.
Market prices
To show prices and history, the app asks Yahoo Finance, CoinGecko and Frankfurter for quotes. Those requests contain only ticker symbols, currency codes and dates. They never include your quantities, values or anything that identifies you. Like any website, these services see your device's IP address.
Importing a screenshot (optional)
If you choose to import trades from a photo or screenshot, the app reads its text on your device first. It then sends that image and text through our server to DeepSeek, an AI provider whose servers are in China, so the trades can be read. Our server forwards the request and passes back the answer. It never logs or stores the image, the text or the answer. DeepSeek processes the request under its API terms. We do not guarantee zero retention by DeepSeek. Screenshots can contain identifying information, so remove names, account numbers and other personal details before importing. You can always enter trades by hand instead.
Promo codes
In App Store releases, offer codes are redeemed through Apple. Earlier test builds may send a test promo code to our server for validation.
A random install ID
To stop abuse of these services, requests to our server carry a random identifier that the app creates when it's installed. It isn't linked to you, your Apple ID or your device. It and your IP address are kept only in rate-limit counters that expire within 25 hours after the last successful request. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) records standard request metadata such as time, path and status. That metadata never includes request contents.
Purchases
Portfolio Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and never shares your payment details with us.
No tracking, ads or analytics
The app has no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data. We share data with service providers only as described above.
Support
If you email us for help, we receive the contact details and information you include and use them to respond to your request. Avoid including private financial details.
Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
