Questions

Common questions.

More help on the Safe Timer support page.

How do alerts work?

You set a check-in timer. If you miss it, Safe Timer alerts you on your phone first. If you also miss the grace period, and you've authorised it, your phone sends a text to your emergency contacts from your own number.

What should I do after a false alarm?

Send your contacts the all-clear from the app as soon as you can. It sends from your phone, the same way the original alert did.

Why might a text not arrive?

Your phone had no signal at the moment it tried to send, your phone was off or out of battery, or the contact wasn't authorised to receive critical messages.

Do my contacts need the app?

No. They receive a normal text message.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Safe Timer subscriptions are billed through Apple. Cancel any time in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Is Safe Timer an emergency service?

No. Nobody monitors sessions and nobody will call emergency services for you. If you are in danger, call 000 or your local emergency number.
