Safe Timer: Safety Check-In · Last updated 9 October 2026

The short version

Safe Timer keeps your data on your phone. We do not run accounts, we do not upload your contacts or your location, and we use no analytics or advertising tools. Your phone sends text messages to the contacts you choose. Apple processes purchases and provides purchase verification through StoreKit; we do not receive your payment card details.

Emergency contacts

The names and phone numbers of your emergency contacts are stored on your phone only. They are used to send a text from your phone when you miss a check-in, and only to contacts you have authorised in iOS. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.

Location

During a session the app uses your location to stay running in the background and, if you turn on location sharing, to put a map link in the text to your contacts. Your last location is stored on your phone with the session and deleted when the session ends. It is never sent to us.

Messages

Texts to your contacts are sent by your phone through Apple's critical messaging feature or the Messages app. We do not see, store or relay them.

Your name and note

The name and note you enter in Settings are stored on your phone and included in the text to your contacts. Nothing else.

Activity history

The app keeps routine session and check-in history on your phone for 90 days. It retains up to 100 recent escalation and contact-notification entries for longer so you can review consequential events. This history is not sent to us.

Subscriptions

If you buy a subscription or lifetime access, Apple processes it under Apple's privacy policy. The app verifies purchase status through StoreKit and caches that status locally. The app also stores trial and early-user access dates in device-local Keychain storage to help recover access after reinstalling. This recovery data is not sent to our server and is not synchronised across devices.

Analytics and tracking

None. Safe Timer contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Your data and your rights

Deleting the app removes its app data, but device-local Keychain access-recovery dates can remain for a later reinstall. Apple retains purchase history under its own policy. If you have questions or a request about your privacy, contact us at the address shown on the Safe Timer website. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act. If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom you have rights under the GDPR, including access and erasure, and can raise them with us in the same way.

Changes

If this policy changes in substance, the app will ask you to read and accept it again. The date at the bottom shows the current version.
